What
is Art of Movement?
The
Art of Movement was created to promote “Belly Dance” as an alternative
form of recreational movement that offers fantasy, fitness and great
fun.
We have
Art of Movement
Overview
Art of Movement is an Educational and Performance organisation
aimed at:
- Promoting
the form of dance known popularly as "Belly Dance" as
an alternative form of recreational movement that offers
fantasy, fitness and great fun.
- Encouraging
awareness in the general public of Belly Dance as a performance
art distinguished by it's depths of complexity and fullness
of expression.
The two arms
of Art of Movement, educational and performance are symbiotic. The
more dancers we have through the school the more well known we are
and the better we become as a performance troupe. Increase number
and quality of performances will in turn increase interest in classes.
Art of Movement seeks to provide opportunities variety to its student
and to continue to expand its resources to enable it to support
a wider variety of interests and goals.

and supporters. Check out the Calendar.
Teacher Training
A teacher training for Art of Movement Teachers is currently
under trial. This will create a network of Art of Movement Teachers
in various centers who can provide a quality, fun dance experience
with the support and backing of a larger dance network.
Library
Art of Movement is currently compiling a video, magazine and
book library from Tanya's extensive and carefully hoarded collection.
This will make it easy for Art of Movement Students to find those
"hard to find" dance video's and articles. Work on cataloging
the collection has been slow, but there are a small number of items
cataloged, and the list grows each week. Due to the irreplaceable
nature of these items membership is only open to students currently
attending Art of Movement Classes.
